ONCE UPON A TIME I WAS A SPERM…

One of those adorable, speedy, clumsy, little critters rushing around in a blind frenzy, crashing into walls and each other… that you see in the microscope…

We were those…We’re all grown up sperm…now that transformation is certainly a miracle!

A miracle just like the butterfly! All the other insects must have laughed hysterically at the slow, chubby,  little caterpillar who announced: “I’m going to be a butterfly when I grow up!”…”Yeah! Sure!Dreamer!”, the  other insects laughed! Then TADA! The caterpillar took flight as the ethereal, whimsical, magical butterfly!

The butterfly gives me hope. If a caterpillar can change into a butterfly…then anyone can change! On a superficial level: You can loose that 60 pounds…look at the caterpillar…he did it! So can YOU!

I certainly don’t look like a sperm anymore…which is kinda sad because I find them very cute! It’s amazing how in the sperm phase we all looked alike from the outside. Sperm is truly Universal. It’s how we all started!

It is one of my favorite things to ponder, paint, sculpt and draw. I guess being a woman, you may find that strange, maybe not. It all started about 20 years ago when I was trying to get pregnant. I thought if I surrounded myself with sperm it would help me conceive! I created a Sperm Room, I called the installation “A Room To Conceive In”…the plan once it was finished was to have amazing sex with my husband & make a baby! I had sperm on the brain! It was insane!

I completed most of the room with sperm curtains, sperm bedding, sperm lamp…everything was sperm except I had one big, round, egg pillow! I sculpted hundreds of small  sperm figurines that were all placed on the floor, heading toward the egg pillow…it was hysterical!

Unfortunately, during this process, I discovered my free spirited, musician husband was not ready for kids…and I believe all this SPERM pressure freaked him out just a tad too! We ended up divorced (we’re still really close friends now) …but now my sperm took on a new meaning…one of safe sex…

To be continued…
